Kibitsu Jinja & Korakuen Garden　吉備津神社、後楽園

April 15th. 2024 Michi no eki Kayo is reliable for a quiet night but the facilities are limited. It does provide rubbish bins. It is not a bad place though undermaintained. Kibitsu Jinja From the michi no eki we set off for Kibitsu Jinja (shrine). This is reputed to hold the second largest, wooden, shrine building in Japan. Only Yasaka Jinja in Kyoto is larger. Not just large, it is more interesting than the average shrine. The shrine is dedicated to Kibitsuhiko, who fought and defeated Ura who, myth suggests, was terrorizing the local people. April 14th. 2024 Michi no eki Muraoka Farm Garden Michi no eki Muraoka Farm Garden is a good place to stay and may be good place for the people want eat high quality beef ‘Tajima Beef’. It does, on first impression, look tacky, just an ill lit, run down yard but the facilities are in fact excellent, and it is generous in rubbish bin provision. It is dark. The weather may provide you with a splendid star bonus, but you have to watch your step. Fukiya, Red Iron Oxide Village 　　吹屋

April 20th. 2023 Michi no eki Kayou Waking in a still misty michi no eki Kayou we slowly discover it’s secrets. The facilities are reasonable as the place has few overnighters but it does become a little overrun in the morning rush. We are surprised to discover a hidden Lawsons, open from 9am to 6pm. There is a shop selling Bonsai and other plants. The bonsai are elementary but are selling for less than the usual price of the ceramic pot containing them. Tsuyama, old castle town　　津山

November 2018, Hirafuku　平福 Michi no eki Syukuba Machi Hirafuku was busy with trucks pulling in and out during the night. However, the truck parking is a little separate so no real problem. In the morning we wander around Hirafuku. The town is set in a picturesque spot and has castle ruins, visible on the top of a hill. The occasional ray of sunshine catches the autumn colours on the hillside, but it is a cold, grey morning for the most part. Our circuit of Hirafuku complete, we head off to Tsuyama. Kurashiki and Hiruzen Highlands　倉敷、蒜山高原

Day 90,  December 2016, A blustery morning with leaves flying everywhere, the michi no eki Ipponmatsu Tenboen is busy with trucks coming and going but not much other activity until a JA market opens selling vegetables, mikan and kaki (persimmon). Behind the michi no eki building there is a view down over a wide, flat valley and beyond to a wider flatter sea. The shining fields stretching to the far hills appear to be salt beds and there are clearly canals running from the sea. Some fields are flooded but others appear black.
